Every Creala store has an address where customers can find it. You have two options: use the free subdomain Creala assigns automatically, or connect your own custom domain. This guide walks through both.
Where to find the domain settings
Inside the Store Builder, open the live preview toolbar and click the gear icon. A modal opens with two tabs: Metadata (SEO) and Domain. The Domain tab is where everything in this guide happens.
Option 1: Free subdomain (default)
Every store receives a free address in the format yourstore.creala.site with no setup required. This is the address used by default when you publish your store, and it works from day one.
You don't need to do anything for this to work. If you never connect a custom domain, your store will always be reachable at its .creala.site address.
Option 2: Custom domain
If you already own a domain (for example mybusiness.com or shop.mybusiness.com), you can connect it so your store is reachable at that address instead.
Step 1: Add the domain in Creala
In the Domain tab, enter your domain and save. A Pending verification chip will appear in yellow until DNS is configured and verified.
Step 2: Configure DNS at your provider
Go to your domain provider's DNS settings (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, etc.) and add an A record pointing to Creala's IP:
45.79.116.134
The exact records you need depend on whether you're connecting a root domain or a subdomain:
Root domain (e.g.
mybusiness.com): add two A records, one with host@and another with hostwww. Both point to45.79.116.134.Subdomain (e.g.
shop.mybusiness.com): add one A record with the corresponding host (in this example, shop), pointing to45.79.116.134.
Step 3: Verify
Back in Creala, click Verify DNS. If the records have propagated, the chip switches from yellow Pending verification to green Connected, and your store is reachable at the new address.
About DNS propagation
DNS changes don't take effect instantly. Most providers propagate within a few minutes, but it can occasionally take longer. If verification fails on your first attempt, wait a few minutes and try again. There is nothing to fix on your end during this wait, the records just need time to spread.
FAQ
Do I need to buy a domain to use Creala?
No. Every store works out of the box with the free yourstore.creala.site address. A custom domain is optional.
Can I use both addresses?
Once your custom domain is connected, that becomes the primary address. The free subdomain remains reserved for your store.
What if I don't know how to edit DNS at my provider?
Most providers have a step-by-step guide for "adding an A record." Search your provider's help center for that phrase, then use 45.79.116.134 as the value when prompted.
Verification keeps failing. What now?
Wait 10 to 15 minutes and try again. If after an hour it still fails, double-check that the A records point exactly to 45.79.116.134 and that you used the right host (@ and www for a root domain, the subdomain prefix for a subdomain).
